Inside My Closet Doors

Welcome to my closet..the first thing I got settled after moving in.. and I am loving it!

I went from no space to loads of space, so you know I am ecstatic and now the inspiration seems endless. No more digging behind hidden spaces, forgetting what I have or storing clothes in god-forsaken places.

So, take a little tour with me.

First off.. there is floor space for twirling, dancing and playing dress up. I made it extra cozy with a shag rug picked up from Target.

On the right side, I have my shoe rack with this season’s essentials.. the go-to’s and the everyday’s. Boots are on top to give them a little extra room and I chose to put them under my shirts and blazers.. more room for the lace up Jeffrey Campbells.

On the left, the rack is organized by jackets, scarves (which are looped and tied four at a time onto wooden hangers), pants and then dresses. I group the clothes by style once they are in their category.. so, bohemian dresses..jersey dresses..structured tailored dresses..etc.

Another thing I love is the width of the closet and the middle high rack.. it was the perfect space for my maxi dresses and jumpsuits.. no more dragging on the floor and collecting dust.

While shopping in Ikea, I spotted these “B” book-ends.. and thought.. what a kitschy way to store my purses and mark my territory.

On the right, the rack is organized by fur outerwear, sweaters, blazers.. and then shirts of all shapes in sizes. Again, I group the categories by style.. so, stripe shirts.. lady-like blouses..tailored button-downs.. etc.

I also hung the middle clothes central on the high rack to allow room for me to easily access the clothes all the way to the end of the rack.

My fall hats have their place right above my blazers and shirts. They are stacked by style as well.. so, big floppy.. menswear..vintage quirky.. etc.

I hung some of my essential belts for easy access right on the wall as I head out of the closet. The final touch to so many outfits and all of my favorites for this season.

Finally, on the left side I have another rack of shoes.. these are some of my dressy shoes that I don’t wear as often and my super casual that I grab every now and then.

There you have it! My closet.. now just so you know.. this is my fall/winter closet.. I kinda have another closet full of spring/summer.

Have any questions or want to know more.. ask away!

(What I’m Wearing: Striped Top - QSW, Wide Leg Pants – Forever 21, Boots – Jeffrey Campbell)

I am SO SO SO jealous of your closet space! I would kill to actually have an iota of space between hangers instead of cramming everything in. Congrats!!

Haha I finally understand how you can continuously post and never repeat and outfit; its because you have so many clothes.

  4. November 16, 2010

Ooh lucky you! I wish I had that much space and a few of your clothes too. Good Luck in your new home, may it be filled with love, laughter and happiness. ax

Love it! And I can’t believe you have 2 closets!
It’s funny how we all have our own “organization” methods for our closet that make it easiest for us to find things and get ready.

  9. November 16, 2010

    Very nice!

  10. November 16, 2010

That is the most impressive, drool worthy closet I have ever seen.
You have made me feel so much better about the amount of clothes flowing from the doors of my closet. It’s not the amount of clothing that’s the problem, it’s the tiny sized closet!

    Lucky girl, you.

I love it Beth! Especially your B book ends! B for Beth and B for bags! I can’t wait to get into my own place and take over a closet of my own as well.

(and that first photo with you on the floor – so darling)

Really love. I want to be at the thrift store when you are giving away all your unwanted goods… : ) I feel like you could never lose inspiration with all those options! Also, love the striped shirt, your style is just on point!

Loving your blog always, wishing I could hire you as a stylist : )

I always find it fascinating how people organize closet space. I know, I’m weird. Love the idea of using the bookends! I wish my name started with ‘B’.

  14. November 16, 2010

i love the first pic of you. you look beautiful in the stripes and red lipstick, with your hair up.

thanks for the peek into you closet. i’m jealous of your twirl room. i have a large closet but it is not a walk in. someday… someday…

i HAVE TO organize by color (even though i’ve tried to organize by style, some ocd part of me won’t let go of the color thing!) oh well, what ever works, right?

did they have the book ends in any other letters? love those!

congrats on your new closet and new home. =)

    • November 16, 2010

Thanks Stephanie! I think the bookends were just in “B”.. they are supposed to be marking “Books”.

Great organization! I’m hoping to have a bigger closet soon too when we move in a couple of months-maybe I will use some of your tips!

My hubby has a closet right next to me.. I think it used to be a coat closet but it is the perfect man’s closet with just the right amount of space.
