Making the Transition as a Grunge Girl

I’ve been thinking a lot about what things will look like after this little guy is out in the world and I start to collect myself and try to find my way as a mom and the old me. My body has changed a lot and I’ll be working to remedy that, but  I’ll also have a baby in my arms. Some of my previous style won’t fit the changed body or be conducive to spit up, carrying a child and the new life ahead of me. Example.. my love for high waist pants definitely won’t fit my evolved body (at least for a while), 5″ platform heels won’t be super practical with a baby in my arms, and shrugged on blazers are already kind of a nuisance (but we do it for fashion!)… with a baby – there is no way.
With all that said, I’m not giving up on style… just tweaking it a bit. I’m leaning towards the look of the 90′s and grunge-inspired pieces. Oversized flannels, easy floral dresses, lots of layering and comfy boots sound about perfect for my transition. I mean.. who cares if spit up stains a distressed denim jacket and the layers might come in handy for accidents.
So, expect some grunge girl looks coming from B. Jones Style in the following months.

I don’t even have a post-baby body and I love the 90′s grunge look! You’ll rock it lady!
this is how grunge should have been done in the 90s!

i’m a mom of two and this is totally how i dress. i highly endorse it. it’s comfy, easy and not your standard fleece and track pant look. you will totally rock it, i’m sure of that!
Great Idea! Transition times can be difficult, but if you have some nice, cozy, comfy pieces to lean on, that make you feel good it will make it all the easier! I’ve also started to re-live my grungy glory days from when I was a teen!
If you want a super comfy, durable boot, try these guys

I got them a few weeks ago and LOVE them. They are nice and sleek and look cute with skinnies or skirts/dresses.
I think no matter how your style evolves, it will always be fab! You just manage to make everything/anything look great! I love the inspiration photos! It’s practical and a lil bada** for a new momma, and I like it!
LOVE! I’m obsessed with the grunge style myself and have been trying to move towards it myself… just because I love it. In the process of doing a total wardrobe overhaul and yea… realizing that my style leans towards rocker chic and grunge anyway. So why not embrace it? Plus, I’m loving the modern take on grunge. It’s just fab!
I’m sure you’ll make the grunge look really fabulous, Beth! I can’t wait to see your ‘mama’ style and meet the little guy! His room looks amazing btw!

Fantastic idea…xxx
Yay! You’re going to rock it
Can’t wait to follow your style in this new and exciting journey!
I understand what you mean about the high heels, although you can pick them up again in a few years
Look forward to see how you’ll tweak it.
can’t wait to see the “new” you!! I’m sure you will look beautiful regardless…
Being a 30-year-old gal, well, grunge is my thing. Take my flannel check shirt and you’ll take everything from me ahah.
Mom and grunge-cool, how cool is that?!
Hope that your doing fine, I follow your blog for quite some time (years ?!), and I just wanted to wish you all the best for the challenge of motherhood.
Best of wishes,
Monica from http://soovermycloset.blogspot.pt/
Sounds perfect!
